Our 2020 inaugural Festival of Trees was a success! Those who attended, volunteered or donated a tree all shared the Holiday Spirit in order to auction 17 beautifully decorated trees December 4th - 12th. Business and individual sponsors had great fun decorating their trees the week prior to the event and Moana Nursery South played Christmas music throughout the entire event to keep everyone in a holiday mood.
Unfortunately, on the last weekend the trees were on display, a windstorm blew most of them down, luckily with little or no damage. Subsequently, we ended the silent auction a day early asking the high bidders to make arrangements to pick up their trees.
AWCMS, with the help of Moana Nursery South, our sponsors and donors, raised about $7,000 through the silent auction and donations. Net proceeds of the event will benefit local community health and service projects. Our philanthropy committee (CAPP) is busy reviewing applicants and will bring their recommendations to our board in early 2021.
A big thank you to all the donors, sponsors, Moana Nursery South and the AWCMS volunteers who helped make this event a success. 2020 has been a difficult year, but The Festival of Trees helped end it on a cheerful note.
